SXSW live review: UK acts including buzz band SPRINTS thrilled at Music For Listeners party

Lazarus Brewing Company hosted the annual Music For Listeners showcase again this year, and, as should be expected, it did not disappoint. The Cosmic Clash was on hand to witness the third of five days of live music on March 14 at the East Austin Brewery that featured SXSW buzz band SPRINTS from Ireland along with a slate of primarily UK acts.

Album review: Swallow the Rat sophomore effort South Locust positions band well for SXSW 2024

New Zealand hard rock trio, Swallow the Rat, released their latest LP, South Locust, on September 1, 2023, and are set to perform at this year’s SXSW music festival as part of the Aotearoa contingent. The band has a number of performances slated for the festival including an unofficial event, Webberville Block Party presented by The Cosmic Clash and Play to the Plants at The Lost Well, Cavalier and Fading Yellow House on Saturday, March 16.

Live music review: Warmduscher, CIVIC, and Lothario put on energetic punk show at Hotel Vegas for LEVITATION

Despite the warm humidity and off-and-on torrential downpour, the Levitation Lounge —adjacent to Parish — was bustling with patrons, eager to head to one of the many showcases lined up for the evening on Friday, October 27. Just down East Sixth Street, Hotel Vegas had a line forming at the side gate for an all punk bill featuring Warmduscher, CIVIC and Lothario that took place on the beloved Vegas patio.

Live music review: Pearl Jam put on historic performance to wrap tour at Moody Center in Austin

Around 7:30 p.m., on September 19, Eddie Vedder’s voice echoed through the halls of the Moody Center.  It would be the second of two consecutive nights on which the seasoned rock veterans, Pearl Jam, would rattle the walls of the vaunted and relatively new Austin arena on the University of Texas campus, ending their extended, world-wide tour in the Live Music Capital.
