Live music review: Built to Spill Slays, Shreds, Sells Out Mohawk Austin

One band she loved was Built to Spill. “Hey, play that song about going out of your mind,” she’d request. Live music review: The Antlers Delivered Whisper Rock at Antone’s 

Amazing shows are frequently measured by how loud a crowd can get. The  Antlers created a special evening at Antone’s May 9, not by eliciting roars from the floor, but captivating the room into a quiet trance. The faithful crowd wasn’t rowdy,  but respectful to the point where you could hear a pin drop, if not the bustling traffic outside of busy 6th Street.

Live music review: My Morning Jacket Delivers One Big Holiday to Moody Amphitheater

Where most artists deliver the runtime of a long HBO episode, a My Morning Jacket set is an epic Peter Jackson film. On April 29 in Austin, the band played a two-hour, 45 minute marathon, with nearly as many songs (22) as years they have been together (24). In other words, it was your typical, kick-ass MMJ set.

Live music review: Fuzz delivered headbangers assault at Mohawk

On a temperate Wednesday night (by Austin standards) the band kicked off a few minutes before 9 PM. With chants of “Ty! Ty!” the iconic front man, Ty Segall, graced his fans, just six months after Fuzz graced the same  Austin stage for LEVITATION festival.
