Live music preview: Levitation 2026 genre bending lineup and schedule is out
Levitation returns to Austin on September 10–13, 2026, bringing another epic four-day weekend of music and art to the city’s Red River Cultural District and beyond. The announcement comes after the conclusion of the Spring edition of Austin Psych Fest, a two-stage, one-location format that contrasts with the Fall edition’s multi-venue setup, which includes Stubb’s, Mohawk, Elysium, Radio/East, The 13th Floor, and more. The multi-venue format encourages fans to choose their own adventure throughout the weekend for over 20 shows announced so far, or to go all in with a 4-Day Pass and experience the full festival.

Levitation has shared the 2026 lineup, an eclectic, genre-blending showcase of psych rock, punk, metal, darkwave, indie rock, electronic music, and everything in between, a celebration of independent music across generations continuing the ever-expansion of the Levitation genre spectrum. Southeast Austin’s Radio/East will serve as the festival’s central hub, featuring an expanded two-stage layout, while Levitation’s beloved late-night and club shows continue across Red River and throughout Austin.
The festival’s lineup includes the likes of Midwest emo legends American Football headlining for the opening night of the festival, the mysterious Quebec masked microtonal duo Angine De Poitrine, experimental crusaders The Garden, a rare appearance from English psych warriors Temples, a doom-heavy bill at Mohawk featuring Sweden’s Monolord, and a slew of massive bills at Radio/East to ensure fans can see a bulk of the booked talent throughout the packed weekend.

The packed days at Radio East will feature stacked lineups Friday-Sunday of the fest, each with its own unique theme, ranging from punk, to darkwave, to heavy psych and metal. Friday will include Olympia, Washington 90s punk legends Bikini Kill, joined by Austin ever-ascending outfit Die Spitz, along with a rare appearance from Gibby Haynes of The Butthole Surfers.

Saturday will push the post-punk and darkwave side of Levitation, featuring Molchat Doma and an esteemed appearance by Joy Division and New Order legend Peter Hook & The Light. Sunday adopts the Levitation ethos to its fullest with sets from Aussie psych punk outfit Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, English haunted doom metalers Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, neo-psych supergroup Primitive Ring (Charles Moothart, Bert Hoover, Jon Modaff), and more. A secret headliner for the Sunday showcase will be announced soon, along with other artists being announced as well to round out the Levitation 2026 lineup.
