Live music preview: Moondance Festival to raise funds for SIMS Foundation at Empire August 12

One of the more pleasant aspects of partnering with music mental health organization, SIMS Foundation is learning about folks who make the decision to support the NPO with their own events because they recognize the value to the local music community. In that vein, Community Partners created Moondance Festival with a killer lineup of bands to perform at Empire Garage and Control Room August 12. The musical lineup features Superfonicos, Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band, Viben & the Submersibles, Pearl Z and more at the Red River District venue. The show promises amazing performances and the opportunity to support an organization that provides invaluable mental health and recovery services to music industry members and their dependent families.

The August festivities includes an emcee host from Purple Bee Studios known for their amazing, high quality, live streaming of great local acts. Screen printing company, Feels So Good will be on hand live printing t-shirts for fans. Concert goers will also have the opportunity to purchase cool vintage threads and curios from the Far Out Lounge Vintage Vendors. The show will also include a silent auction, photo booth and live art being created on site.

Support mental health and raise money by purchasing a ticket to continue aiding affordable mental health care for Austin musicians and their family members. Proceeds of this fundraiser will be donated to the organization. VIP ticket holders will receive a gift bag with surprise items, an event T-shirt, and a drink coupon.

For those not already initiated, Superfonicos is a fantastic Columbian, Cumbia-fusion act based in Austin. The band has performed at Austin City Limits Festival, SXSW, been Sonic Guild grant recipients and been nominated for multiple Austin Music Awards. They’re the perfect choice to headline a mini-fest that is all about dancing, fun and raising money for a good cause.

If you follow The Cosmic Clash then you already know we’re huge Nolan Potter and the Nightmare Band fans, booking the amazing psych-rockers to headline our SXSW show at Cavalier and the Fading Yellow House last March with Play to the Plants. The event was a rousing success in no small part to to having Nolan Potter lead his exceptional band through a stellar performance that had neighborhood residents cueing up on the sidewalk to catch a glimpse of the group.

With upstart acts, Viben and the Submersibles, Pearl Z plus Cazayoux, Je’Texas, Madam Radar, Dodo, and Ruthie Craft, the evening promises something for every music fan. Plus you’ll have the chance to support a truly worthwhile cause while enjoying easier downtown parking due to the Summer hiatus for students, great music and maybe even some new friends.
