Song Premiere: Del Toros and Nick Tozzo introduce Cumbia Del Buho

Premiering their new single, the Cumbia-Tropicália-inspired collaboration between Del Toros and Nick Tozzo, get’s you out of your seat and moves your hips. The groove “Cumbia Del Buho” features multiple musicians from Austin Latin scene greats, Mauro Lopez (Del Toros, El Combo Oscuro, The Los Sundowns), Nick Tozzo (Superfonicos, Kiko Villamizar) and Grammy-award winner Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Money Chicha) on guitar. The track brings together some of the best players in the live music capital of the world. Martinez is a special guest artist on the track.

The lo-fi track is best described in the band’s bio “Cumbia del Búho, is sonically set somewhere between the lush jungles of Colombia and the palm-lined streets of coastal Mexico circa 1960. All the while, it’s a sound you’d hear coming from dive discotheques of Brooklyn.”

The song sets the ambiance with Nick Tozzo’s cumbia beat accompanied by a guitar strum to get the party started. Wind instruments take the lead melody as if zigzagging and shuffling around the dance floor. The 60’s organ adds a spooky ambiance as the song leads to the unmistakable guitar-melting riff by Beto Martinez.

The lo-fi recording gives the song a nostalgic feeling reminiscent of an era long passed. “Del Búho” clocks in at just over three minutes is a refreshing taste to a traditional Cumbia sound. This track will make any Latin music fan anxious to hear the full EP to be released this spring.

Fans of Caramelo Haze, Como Las Movies and similar acts will enjoy this track. You can listen below or find the song on your preferred platform via Del Toro’s linktree page.
