In Salt Lake City one of the most beloved and revered music venues is Kilby Court, the tiny, DIY performance space for which the Kilby Block Party music festival is named. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the legendary club, organizers and venue operators, S&S Presents are also marking the fifth year of the festival with another stellar lineup that attracted fans from all over the country to the Utah State Fairpark for what is turning out to be an incredible weekend of musical performances. Friday’s lineup included Vampire Weekend and a host of gifted female performers including; Joanna Newsome, Courtney Barnett, Alvvays and Blondshell among others.

The California musician has made Austin his second home, playing triumphant sets at various venues around the area. After a triumphant performance to wrap up his backing band, The Freedom Band’s era, he is embarking on another tour supporting his latest Chicago-based Drag City Records studio effort, Three Bells, one of his most polished works to date. For Austin’s stop on the tour circuit, Ty Segall will perform at Red River Cultural District staple Mohawk, in the heart of the downtown area on April 22.

Ty Segall and his Freedom Band, which includes Mikal Cronin on bass, Charlie Moothart on drums, and Emmett Kelly on guitar, took the stage at Mohawk June 18 to a sold out crowd. It was Segall’s second show at Mohawk in just the past three months and his third since last October’s Levitation festival, both times playing drums for the trio Fuzz.
