Thursday, Austin’s most beloved music festival as far as the hipster crowd is concerned reconvenes in venues across the Red River Cultural District downtown along with this year’s venue additions, Far Out Lounge in South Austin and electronic music haven, Concourse Project. There are a ton of great performances slated so we’re going to distill it down to a select few shows that are considered must see acts at LEVITATION 2023. When we noticed Rhode Island’s Deer Tick were coming back to Austin, we made a mental note as the indie, folk-rock foursome are among our favorite live acts going back to being introduced to the band at Do512’s Lounge years ago. John McCauley’s songwriting along with that of band mates, guitarist Ian O’Neil and bothers Christopher (bass) and Dennis Ryan (drums). The group is tight knit and it shows in their cohesive live performance as it did last Wednesday at Austin’s Stubb’s BBQ.
