SXSW music review: good vibes at Next Wav by SoundCloud at Mohawk

As the cloudy overcast broke early on Monday afternoon, the crowd outside of Mohawk filed into the venue for the Soundcloud Next Wav party at SXSW featuring an all-woman lineup, artist-focused panels and workshops to help working musicians grow their audiences.

Flores at SoundCloud Next Wav SXSW
R&B artist, Flores soulfully serenaded the audience with what was the singer’s first ever live show in America. The singer was seated with a single guitarist backing her during what turned out to be a lovely set.

The latter half of the music showcase featured a more hard-hitting atmosphere, transitioning show-goers from chill afternoon vibes to ramping things up as the sun began moving down and to the West.

Maryland MC, Kelow Letesha took stage, engaging the crowd with trap-inspired tracks that kept the crowd moving, setting a tone for the showcase headliner, Houston MC, Monaleo.

With an energetic approach, Monaleo hit the stage stomping with a style that was fresh and familiar.  Inviting a few fans on stage familiar with her lyrics, it was all good vibes at The Mohawk for the Soundcloud Next Wav event before the showcase concluded, sending the crowd off to continue the nighttime festivities.
