Song Premiere: Primo the Alien drops Sexual Safari today

Although plans for an ambitious summer tour have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not stopped Primo The Alien from her galactic journey. The synth-pop artist continues to record from the confines of her guest bedroom expanding on her synth-wave legacy. The single “Sexual Affair” was a product of being quarantined for the last couple of months. Today the upstart singer drops her new single here at The Cosmic Clash.

Primo the Alien is the alter ego of Austin-based music artist Laura Lee Bishop. Bishop writes, produces, and mixes all of her music fusing late 80’s new wave sound with sass and heavier beats. She also is behind the artistic aspects of her stage personna, shooting and editing all the cover art herself.

Primo The Alien would not be complete without her infectious, glam rock inspired live performances which reveal the act as one of the better live shows in Austin. It’s mildly surprising to see how enthusiastic the audience response has been when she performs.

The electro-ballad starts off with jungle sounds accompanied by smooth, synthesizer sounds. The hook-laden vocal harmonies foreshadow the track’s intentions. The chill upbeat rhythms expose the sexually charged lyrics:

“It’s a savage kind of lust,
addicted to the touch,
exploring every inch of our bodies”

The words complete the track by inducing a calming feeling mixed with an increasingly soulful vibe. The chorus has a hook that will stick in your head. That might attract unwanted attention as you wander around humming “Sexual Safari” without realizing it.  The song adeptly orchestrates the sensual nature with subtle, and not so subtle hints of sexuality both lyrically and musically. The song is actually an observation of human nature.
