Since performing as a part of Grandmaster, Sexpop, and his brainchild band, The Cuckoos, it’s mind-boggling to wonder how the Austin musician manages his time. On new track “Dirty Pictures,” Frost shows that his musical staying power is here to stay in the Austin scene. The band’s sound takes an eclectic route, showing touches of funk, soul, psychedelic rock, and the roots of classic rock.

SXSW live review: Austin acts welcome festival goers with amazing performances

The first weekend of South By Southwest 2024 showed some of Austin’s finest local talent, warmly welcoming out-of-town visitors, local music fans, and touring bands alike. Austin is still a global music hub in 2024, and SXSW amplifies that fact for a couple weeks each March to show that music is still a hot commodity in the city, no matter what time of year it is. With opening, all-day showcases such as Hotel Vegas’ Anniversary Party, SX Soundcheck, Do512 Smokeout, and others, there’s plenty to keep music attendees busy before official music week begins today (March 11). Here’s what stood out to us in the opening days of SXSW, most of which will perform again before the festival concludes.

Video Premiere: The Cuckoos new single I’ll Be Ur Tramp

In what now feels like ancient history, this past January, The Cuckoos put on a show at one of Austin’s most intimate venues, Cheer Up Charlie’s. On June 29, the band dropped a new single and video. The new clip depicts a man (Frost), sitting alone in a chair, in black and white with a vintage color TV playing footage from the aforementioned show.  This is the premise for the Austin-based The Cuckoos’ latest music video and single release “I’ll Be Ur Tramp.”
