The unbridled bliss that comes when thing are aligned was present Saturday at East Austin’s Radio Milk Recording Co. The studio White Denim built is also a performance space that is truly special. It was the perfect spot to highlight the work Geannie Friedman of Semihelix has done with her new record, Recoil, which by all accounts is a hit with listeners near and far.

I’d showed up that night just to see Moving Panoramas but got there early so I decided to grab a seat up front and settle in, unsure who or what Semihelix even was. Live music preview: Christian Bland and the Revelators wrap Vancerts Sunset Saturdays July 31

Christian Bland (The Black Angels) returns to Native Hostel Saturday, July 31 this time with a full band, the Revelators to headline the final Vancerts Sunset Saturdays until the series resumes September 4. Moving Panoramas and Semihelix round out a stellar psych-rock / shoe-gaze bill. Bland opened the series with a rare, solo set in April.
