Live music review: experimental metal act Deafheaven at Emo’s

Now 12 years removed from its release, Deafheaven has morphed back to peak form with 2025’s Lonely People With Power. At Austin venue Emo’s on Wednesday night, an action-packed bill helped pave the way for the screaming spectacle that didn’t let up until the last note. Upon arriving at the Riverside venue, metalheads of all ages were spotted in the audience, showing the generational appeal of fury that still holds on the masses.

Live music review and photos: Bob Moses played Emo’s with Mansionair

Vancouver-via-Brooklyn-based electronic group Bob Moses brought their Battle Lines tour through Austin at Emo’s last Friday, October 19 supported by Mansionair. Bob Moses is actually a duo comprised of Jimmy Vallance and Tom Howie, their pop-electronic work was filled out with a lineup of live drums, bass, keys, guitar and vocals for a set list that drew heavily from their latest album, “Battle Lines.”

Live music review: The Darkness and Diarrhea Planet thrilled fans at Emo’s – The Cosmic Clash

It may not have been a sold-out crowd but Emo’s fans were enthusiastic in their response to the UK neo-metal act, The Darkness and opener, Diarrhea Planet last week.  It was hard not to match the energy of DP’s opening set. The Nashville-based garage punks look like they’re having a better time than the drunk fans in the front row as they rocked their way through a brief half-hour set.
