Song review: Upcoming single by Jeremiah Jackson Soul Power drops July 2
What is Glam Daddy Blues? Texas’ own Jeremiah Jackson keeps the spirit of this self-invented genre alive in their upcoming single, “Soul Power” set for release on July 2. Along with members, drummer Mikey Uptmore, and bassist/producer, Dylan “Pickle” Fischer, the trio concocts a dreamy narrative that begs us to fall into the awe-inspiring influence of “Soul Power.” Glam Daddy Blues is Jeremiah Jackson’s answer to nourishing the soul and keeping it alive and thriving.

The track begins with a sweet and steady drum pulse, speckled with acoustic bluesy plucks, cradling the opening verses from Jackson that build to a gritty guttural electric burst of the titular “Soul Power” chorus. Equally catchy and moving, Jackson’s latest release possesses heartfelt gratitude in their writing, a work that they describe as made for the women and LGBTQ+ folks that continue to inspire and support each other, despite what feels like constant setbacks and targeted attacks on civil liberties and self-expression.
If you have not witnessed the full experience of their live performances, anyone who ventures a listen to previous work can pick up on the upbeat energy and spirited appeals in their writing, and clearly grasp the acts that influence their overall sound.

Take for example previous studio releases like, “I Believe In You,” which leans heavily upon stoner rock and power-pop influences, is similarly uplifting and seductive. Crunchy, hypnotic riffs and a steady cowbell-accented percussive beat are the backbone to Homme-esque croons, with lyrics “I believe in you, do you believe in me? You will always be full of possibility.”
Citing influences that range from classic 70’s glam artist, David Bowie (R.I.P.) and humor rock stars, Tenacious D, those devoted to keeping the rock ‘n’ roll spirit alive can catch sequin-clad genre-busting, Jeremiah Jackson at their single release party for “Soul Power” at Hotel Vegas on Wednesday, July 2. The early evening, Vegas on the Spot bill includes ChicoSelfie and Lo Gentry.
As an added bonus, Jeremiah Jackson performances are happening every Wednesday night in July for their Hotel Vegas Residency: July 9, 16, 23, and 30. RSVP for these shows on Facebook
