Song Review: Scott Collins new track Want You to Want Love featuring Kydd Jones dropped last month
Austin musician Scott Collins has returned with his latest single, “Want You to Want Love,” featuring Kydd Jones. The track was originally recorded at The Bubble Studios by Collins then the recording was sent to Jones who added extra verses for his part of the collaboration. The single is on sale via Bandcamp for $1. All proceeds will be split between music non-profits SIMS Foundation and DAWA. This track marks a sweet collaboration between Scott Collins and Kydd Jones, showcasing their innovative musical style. “Want You to Want Love” represents a departure from Collin’s usual sound, allowing the songwriter to explore a different direction creatively. The song’s dynamic energy and unique blend of musicianship make it a standout addition to Scott Collins’ catalogue.
Collins explains the process of creating this track a bit more, “I recorded all the instruments to a loop pedal, then recorded my vocals over the loop at The Bubble Studios then sent it to Kydd for extra production and verses.”
The track begins with a chill guitar followed by a soulful R&B beat. Once the vocals kick in, the feel of the song takes a hard turn. It instantly grows when the lyrics present the theme. Collin’s poetic verses demand your attention:
“Desperate time call for desperate lovers. I’m as blind as you want me to be. In a world of symmetry”
As the chorus arrives, it delivers a hook that makes the listener hit the replay button fast. The phrase, “I want you to love me” spins into the mix. The lyrics resonate, inviting you to sing along. The song lays back and continues to tell the story. In the second verse, “Earth day in 1990, in a world, save a tree for me,” serves as a slow closure to the journey.”
Before heading out, Kydd takes command, igniting the song with his own image. The collaboration comes full circle as “Want You to Want Love” exits just as it entered, chilling until the end. The production, was masterfully crafted through a loop pedal, encompasses Scott’s vocals, breathing vibrant life into the recording.
