Song Premiere: Austin power trio Death Party drops Evil Eye today
Austin power trio, Death Party drops their latest single “Evil Eye” today at The Cosmic Clash. The song is the second single released by the group, following their “Son of Sam” single which was introduced in February. The new track reflects the irreverent perspective Death Party offer fans. The group has cobbled together the winning combination of humor and intensity into their songwriting.
This latest single introduces an unnamed female ex-partner who has turned her vengeful eye to the protagonist to little or no effect:
You’ve been trying hard to make
My life go really wrong
But in the end all you really got was
Perhaps they’re not Grammy-winning lyrics but the sentiment fits the vibe just about right as you’ll hear in the embedded track below. This is a fun, hard-hitting rock n roll tune we’re looking forward to seeing performed live. The track was mixed by Grammy-award winning mastering engineer, Howie Weinberg (Nirvana’s Nevermind) just like the previous single. The group plans to tour a full album out later this year. This track represents their second single since forming last year.
Emerging with an inclination for the punk-rock-pace of Jay Reatard and The Spits, Death Party is an Austin-based trio comprised of singer/guitarist Nicky Papaianou (guitar/vox), Jake Adler (drums), and Pedro Carvalho (bass). Since forming in early 2022, the band has been hitting theunderground scenes in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. Death Party have appeared on bills with Orville Neely (Bad Sports), Mark Ryan (Marked Men) and Bass Drum of Death.
Death Party are taking a short break from live shows to finish their debut record. The group has been invited to perform at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida this October. Last year’s event featured Anti-Flag, Piebald and Hot Water Music among others. This year’s initial lineup will be announced April 15. Until then watch Deathparty’s Instagram account for new shows and spin “Evil Eye” as much as possible
