  • June 2nd – The Drop In @ The Long Center

    • Summer is the season for outdoor jams here in Austin. Come to the Long Center every Thursday for free outdoor music; all you need is an RSVP. Presented by Black Fret to promote local musicians. Ray Prim will be performing with Natalie Price. Click Here to RSVP

  • June 3rd – The Warlocks w/ Christian Bland & The Revelators, Strange Lot @ Hotel Vegas

    • This may be my wild card pick of the month. If you’re a psych-rock fan you’re not going to want to miss this one. Besides the legendary neo-pysch band, The Warlocks coming in from L.A., The Black Angels’ lead guitarist plays his own brand of psychedelic music that sounds like Jesus and Mary Chain had a baby with Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd.

  • June 5th – You’ve got a decision to make, but you cannot stay inside on the couch tonight. There’s much too much happening:

  • June 6th – Kishi Bashi w/ Tall Tall Trees @ Mohawk

    • Violinist Kishi Bashi ventures off from classical stylings to incorporate track looping into his music. Kishi Bashi composes nearly cinematic tracks that could easily be featured in films and television. “Carry On Phenomenon” would be the perfect track to highlight a crime drama. For fans of Jonsi. Tickets

  • June 6th – slenderbodies @ Historic Scoot Inn

    • On tour to promote their latest album ‘are we?’, slenderbodies experiments with their guitar for breezy tunes. Indie-pop duo sings breathy falsetto tracks. Check out ‘anenome’. Tickets here

  • June 7th – BFF, Sexual Jeremy, Casino, Frosty Palms @ Chess Club

    • I still haven’t been to the Chess Club yet, but I have been waiting for a good reason. Previously I had a difficult time finding their website and finding ACTUAL chess tournaments. One way to keep track of shows there is to follow their Do512 page. For fans of Pup.

    • Pride Music Series day 2 poster
  • June 8th – Pride Music Series Day Two – She23, Blakchyl, Brian Brian Brian, and The Side Saddles @ Far Out Lounge

    • Austin music scene novice and choreographer She23 brings R&B and hip hop vibes to the big stage at the Far Out Lounge. Producer Blakchyl will deliver lo-fi beats with light rap. Tickets here

  • June 9th – The Drop In @ The Long Center

  • June 9th – Pride Music Series Day 3 – Dillon Biggs, Die Hard Habits, Transy Warhol, Provoked Emotions, and Sage Suede @ Sahara Lounge

    • Traveling music festival Camp Nowhere arrives in Austin, Texas on Friday June 10th. The lineup highlights a number of electronic artists including Porter Robinson, Lane 8, Nora en Pure, and Fletcher. Tickets

  • June 11th – Belle & Sebastian, Los Bitches @ Stubb’s

    • Scottish indie pop band returns to Austin as part of their first American tour in years to promote their latest album “A Bit of Previous”. Belle and Sebastian lyrically bottles the sense of awe in their track “Young and Stupid”, sampling a female voice comparing feeling small in the world as you grow up. Click here!

    • Quintessential Austin outdoor session is back! Blues on the Green returns for free shows down at Zilker Park. Be sure to pack your blanket and sunscreen! Sir Woman plays first then Grupo Fantasma and a bunch of their friends on the 15th.

        Calexico at Scoot Inn poster

  • June 15 – Calexico @ Historic Scoot Inn

    • Calexico’s members Joey Burns and Joey Convertino pull from all corners of the Southwest for their tenth studio album. Incorporating one part folk, one part blues, and one part Latin American, it’s easy to imagine driving across dusty country roads with Calexico playing in the background. Check these guys out if you missed Orville Peck last month. Tickets available here

  • June 15 – Puscifer w/ Moodie Black @ Bass Concert Hall

    • If you attended Oblivion Access Fest last month, add noise rap artist Moodie Black. With dark, grimy beats slinking over the stage, Kdeath has strived to provide a social commentary of our nation through music about race and gender, as stated in Out Magazine. Last October, Moodie Black opened for Sleigh Bells with a sensory overload, breaking down the screen behind her. Find the original review here. Tickets

  • June 16 – Nick Allison & Players Lounge, Blue Jean Queen, Country Westerns @ Hotel Vegas

    • There’s a lazy country to drawl to Nick Allison’s voice as he proclaims “Give back the key to my heart”. New to the scene, Blue Jean Queen has two songs on Spotify, but slow down your week with even more country licks overtop tapping on the high hat on “Wild Wild Women”. Tickets at the door.
  • June 16 – The Drop In @ The Long Center
  • June 17 – Broncho w/ Labrys @ Empire Control Room

    • “Class Historian” has lurked somewhere in my iTunes library from the days when I downloaded Blalock’s Indie Rock Playlist, recklessly adding new genres to already disheveled catalogue. Check them out if you like a mix of pop and punk (but not pop-punk), like the Ramones. Tickets!

    • Ty Segall mohawk
  • June 18 – Ty Segall & Freedom Band w/ Shannon Lay @ Mohawk

    • Catch the unapologetic, unrefined Ty Segall & the Freedom. The psych inspired garage rock band will be appearing at the Mohawk to promote their latest album ‘Harmonizer’, amped up with more synths and an otherworldly sound. Think robot meets alien. Tickets!

  • June 19 – BASTARDANE & Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol @ Stubb’s Indoors

    • BASTARDANE’s debut album “Is This Rage?” was released earlier this year. Hard rock trio from Savannah, Georgia incorporates dissonant power chords and fast drums for a heavy sound. Click here.

  • June 20 – The Weather Station @ 3Ten at ACL Live

    • Canadian singer-songwriter Tamara Lindeman sounds eerily like Joni Mitchell. Lindeman effortlessly exhibits her vocal range from hushed lows to falsettos while keeping her lyrics honest to her life’s experiences. Check out the Weather Station’s latest album Ignorance. Tickets

  • June 21 – Thrice & Bayside w/ Anxious @ Emo’s

    • If you had side bangs in the Tumblr era, Thrice and Bayside will be performing at Emo’s. I’m sure the booking agent had a chuckle booking an aptly emo show here. Tickets Here

    • Keshi Hell and Heaven tour image
  • June 23 – Keshi w/ rei brown @ Emo’s

    • “Like i need u” is Usher’s wet dream. Originating from right outside the Houston metro area, Keshi gives a nod to 90’s Motown artists like Boyz 2 Men swooning with his falsetto voice. Tickets here

  • June 24 – Husbands w/ Being Dead @ The Ballroom

    • Land-locked based band Husband creates beach pop beats. Fun fact: duo Danny Davis and Wil Norton began their musical adventures directing a Godzilla themed musical. Earlier this year, they put out their third studio LP “Full-on Monet”. Click here

  • June 25 – MATTIE @ The Parish

    • From Dallas, TX, MATTIE began singing at the early age of four, participating in her church’s music to learn gospel music. MATTIE’s music is an avante-garde fusion of traditional church vocal stylings with experimental instrumentation. Tickets

    • “Bye, bye Miss American Pie”. Don McLean will be on tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of his most notable song this year. All American singer-songwriter will perform at Austin pinnacle venue, the Paramount and the Stateside. Get tickets to see the Grammy Hall of Fame winner here.

    • Kraftwerk ACL Live
  • June 27 – Kraftwerk 3D @ ACL Live

    • Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Ralf Hütter and electronic pioneer Kraftwerk will be at the ACL Live for one of MoMA’s 3D concert series. “Trans Europa Express” massively changed how much was produced and created a new genre. Check out the audiovisual experience here

  • June 28 – Rakim & GZA @ Empire Control Room

    • Since the early days of rap, Rakim has made waves in the rap community. MTV once dubbed Rakim as “one of the most influential and skilled MC’s of all time” for his wordplay. Former Wu-Tang Clan member GZA fuses intricate and skillful rhymes together with each track. Click here!

  • June 29 – Spazmatics @ Speakeasy

    • Austin-based 80’s new wave tribute band performs every Wednesday around town. These four nerds put on a show in their suspenders, spinning hat, helmet, and neck brace. Oh yeah, and the choreography is a bonus. Cover is $10 at the door.

    • Magna Carda Antone's
  • June 30 – Magna Carda @ Antone’s

      • Magna Carda should be on your bucket list of hometown bands. With bouncy old school beats, spoken word influences, punctuated with jazz instrumentation, Magna Carda have been a DIY name in this area, sending positive vibes at each show. Click here!

  • June 30 – The Drop In @ The Long Center
