Live music preview: Division Men, Josh T Pearson, Conrad Keely play Far Out Lounge Friday

After last week’s banger of a party at Cheer-Up Charlie’s, The Cosmic Clash is co-hosting what promises to be another extremely fun event at The Far Out Lounge (formerly Nicolaza’s). The show is co-produced by Covert Curiosity and KISS OR KILL. That means the lineup is full of stellar performers and reflects the wide range of musical styles the three companies enjoy booking. The roster includes Austin by way of El Paso and San Antonio art-rockers The Division Men, Texas folk and country artist Josh T. Pearson, Conrad Keely (And You Will Know Us From the Trail of the Dead) along with progressive Austin act, Dream Eater and singer-songwriter, Clayton England. RSVP on Facebook to get the latest updates on the show. The show is free to attend.

All five acts will appear on The Far Out Lounge backyard stage. The patio has been redone to reflect the new(ish) owners laid-back but more upscale vibe. Aside from yard games and a pretty damn good food trailer, there will be over 15 different vendors offering their wares from fine, handmade jewelry and clothing to vintage items to shop from. The Edison lights are strung across a decidedly South Austin backyard spot with a gorgeous Live Oak tree shading much of the enormous yard. The interior of the bar is tasteful and relaxed with easy chairs situated near a fireplace before patrons arrive at the rather large bar. Some fans may be familiar with Far Out’s other spot, gastro-pub, Hopfield’s in the North Campus area.

The Division Men have been well-documented at The Cosmic Clash. The couple met in Berlin forming an act that highlights Caroline Portillo’s exquisite, haunting voice. We’ve been huge fans since the beginning. Having the opportunity to host this talented pair at a relatively new, beautiful venue is something to be happy about. We cannot wait to share The Division Men with you. Until then check our favorite clip of the band above.

Fans got lucky when we landed Josh T. Pearson on this amazing bill. The rising Texas artist has a large and growing following both online and in the real world. It’s due to his great songwriting and legitimate vocal chops that fans have gravitated towards his music. We’re pleased to host the affable singer Friday for what will be a highlight performance. Check his fun clip made for his song, “Straight At Me.” Fans may recognize the opening scene venue, Austin’s The White Horse.

And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead’s Conrad Keely recently spent time in Cambodia exploring his ancestral home (he’s half Cambodian) before returning to Austin to delve into solo performances, visual art and frankly just being awesome. TOD also have a new album coming soon. Keely has been busy since returning to Austin. A fixture in the local music scene, we couldn’t be more pleased to share Keely’s music with fans. The clip above was shot in Germany during their massive Reeperbahn Festival. It’ll give you a taste of what’s to come Friday. Local acts Dream Eater and Clayton England open. Please join us.
