Live music preview: Holiday Hootenanny returns to Radio East December 13 with stacked lineup
The Resound-Pooneh Presents-KUTX Holiday Hootenanny returns to Radio/East on December 13, marking another year of music, vendors, and holiday-themed festivities to close out another year of Austin live music. The event will run all day, with two non-overlapping music stages running until midnight. Holiday Hootenanny is an all-ages opportunity to see local talent and touring acts alike in southeast Austin, with plenty of parking, food trucks, and ample drink selections to keep festival-goers energized throughout the day.

Featured headliners for Holiday Hootenanny will include long-running garage rockers Shannon & The Clams, psychedelic folk outfit Improvement Movement, indie pop act Tune-Yards, and performative indie ensemble, Rubblebucket. Austin local artists Almost Heaven, Variety, J’Cuuzi, and Club Coma will also appear at the mini fest as opening acts. The December Saturday’s eclectic lineup will showcase highlights from the touring circuit in 2025 and trailblazing Austin talent in the fruitful local music scene today.

In addition to the music-based portion, the Radio/East space will host 23+ vendors showcasing Austin-based local businesses, including ceramics, vintage clothing, art, tattoos, and more. This year’s event is bringing back the infamous mechanical “reindeer” and ornament decorating station, while introducing some new components. Artist-run print studio Raw Paw will be printing limited-edition merchandise on-site, and face painting will be available for kids and adults alike. Additionally, the event will feature holiday-themed drink and food menus, including “The Grinch Smash,” a smash burger with avocado and green jalapeño, and “The Christmas Dog,” an all-beef hot dog topped with cranberry mustard and crispy shallots.

A $5 buy-in raffle with prizes from Resound Presents, Waterloo Records, and more local brands will benefit nonprofit partner CASA of Travis County, which protects and advocates for children facing neglect and abuse. The raffle will include gifts and prizes from local partners like Resound Presents concert tickets and swag, Radio Coffee gift cards and swag, a Waterloo Records gift card, and a free haircut and swag from Birds Barbershop.
“We’re looking forward to hosting our second-annual Holiday Hootenanny with our partners KUTX, Radio/East, and of course, Pooneh Ghana,” said Graham Williams, owner of Resound Presents. “This year’s mini-fest promises to provide a diverse array of boundary-pushing local and national talent, combined with holiday activities and a healthy dose of mayhem – all while supporting a worthy cause.”
