Live music preview: The Levitation 2025 schedule dropped with lots more artists

Last Friday, the original psych-rock focused music festival, Levitation dropped their 2025 daily schedule along with a couple of additions to the bill in for the main fest programming at Palmer Events Center and 14 acts were added to the Night Show bills. Austin bands, Daiistar, Skloss, Good Looks and Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol joined the party as did Cosmic Clash show veterans Laveda (NYC).  The humble Austin music fest that began as Austin Psych Fest in 2008, rebranded in 2016 as Levitation eventually expanding to four days of cutting-edge programing at venues throughout Austin.

This year represents a new era for the beloved festival which moves to the indoor Palmer Events Center along the south side of Town Lake next to the Long Center. The setup with be different with two stages, one outside and the main stage inside. Like most music fans, we’re both curious and excited to see how the new location shapes up.

Naturally we’re looking forward to rocking out with headliners Mastodon, TV on the Radio, Pavement along with hometown heroes, The Black Angels and many others. And we promise another preview closer the fest when we’ll detail our show picks for the weekend but there’s something more urgent to share at the moment.

We’re super stoked to be presenting Pile with FACS at the 29th Street Ballroom on Saturday, September 27. The Boston post-punk foursome have a new album just released August 15 on Sooper Records called, Sunshine and Balance Beams. In just four short days, Pile’s latest has garnered praise and 7.9 rating from the cranky critics at Pitchfork while Consequence named the platter Album of the Week. We’ve already featured a recent live clip for the band performing “A Loosened Knot” as our Video of the Week on the TCC home page because of the reasons. All of this to say, we’re excited to see the band perform in the intimate space at the Ballroom next month.

Other Night Shows we recommend include the opening parties on September 25 and 26 with Mdou Moctar at Readio East and Boy Harsher the following evening at Stubb’s. Also, don’t sleep on Rose City Band at 29th Street Ballroom with Good Looks on Friday the 26th per our writer April Riggs.
