Video premiere: Austin’s Scott Collins dropped Be Alright clip yesterday

Austin singer-songwriter, Scott Collins released the video for his song, “Be Alright” yesterday, partnering with The Cosmic Clash to premiere the video on our homepage as our “Video of the Week.” The feel-good rocker is shot in one location: a garage / workshop space. The vignette is directed by Timothy Cole Burris. The song is the first single released off the talented singer’s upcoming EP In The Burgundy

The song is was released by Austin label, Mr. Pink Records on July 1. A full band show at Treaty Oak Distillery took place the same day.  From Collins, “Be Alright” is actually a song I wrote about 10 years ago and was able to finally put out into the world on this EP.” The track was recorded at The Bubble studio with founder and owner, Chris “Frenchie” Smith and  engineer, Einar Pedersen.

The video intersperses shots of Collins building a model airplane kit in a typical looking garage / workshop type space and the musician playing acoustic guitar and singing the lyrics to “Be Alright.” The song is a feel-good alt-rock or country tune that opens with Collins voice and a rather heavy guitar riff that eases into the first verse just right. There’s also a welcome bit of levy to the production.

Producer, Smith was a perfect choice to partner with on the making of this number as the prolific studio head specializes in recording rock bands. There is a some nice Tom Petty energy heard in the mix as well as some good old Southern-fried rock a la the Allman Brothers or even a more recent example like Austin’s Fastball with their mix of classic and Southern-inspired pop-rock.

We could go on but what’s the point when we can simply show you the video instead. Have thoughts about the track or clip? Share with us on social and let us know what you think of the latest Scott Collins video.

Fans can catch Collins August 3 at Austin Eastsiders on Barton Springs Road or August 13 at Radio Coffee and Beer in South Austin. Check the tour schedule for more upcoming dates.
