Live music preview: Austin Psych Fest returns for 15th Anniversary at Far Out

On Monday, LEVITATION and Resound Presents announced the return of Austin Psych Fest (APF) on the 15th Anniversary of the event’s inception at Far Out Lounge and Stage. Today, organizers are announcing a stellar lineup of international, national and local acts to play the event set for April 28-30. Headliners include Toro Y Moi, Yves Tumor, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Melody’s Echo Chamber and festival founders, The Black Angels. The full lineup is below.

The intimate setting and two-stage set up at Far Out Lounge promises an authentic return to the origins of the festival with a single location and a smaller format (Far Out caps out around 2500) than the venue-based LEVITATION Festival in October. With over 3.5 acres of space at Far Out and plenty of live oaks the return of APF promises an exceptional concert experience. Weekend Passes and Single Day tickets are on sale now HERE.

Since Austin Psych Fest and LEVITATION’s inception, organizers have sought to create a thriving center for the independent music scene locally and internationally, in the home of psychedelic rock: Austin, Texas. The event’s co-founder & booker Rob Fitzpatrick explains, “We’ve always been a little bit of the weird underground party, for the seekers, even as it’s gotten bigger each year. This Spring we’re throwing it back to where it all started, with the first Austin Psych Fest back in 2008. The 15th anniversary is a great excuse to book a stacked lineup and killer party to celebrate. We’re also excited to bring it back with our friends at Resound. The team there has been behind a crazy amount of our favorite Austin music moments – very stoked for what we have coming up.”

Austin-based Resound Presents has been tapped to co-produce the event. The new partnership will include Austin Psych Fest, LEVITATION in the Fall, and ongoing events throughout the year. Composed of the team that brought Austin the legendary Fun Fun Fun Fest, the small team of experts at Resound bring national and up-and coming artists to stages across Central Texas.

Acts down the bill are just as impressive as headliners Melody’s Echo Chamber who are making their Texas debut like UK via Uruguay cumbia boppers Los Bitchos. Another exciting act invited is Danish noise popsters The Raveonettes who we caught exactly 10 years ago at Carson Creek Ranch. Incidentally Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are also marking their 10th anniversary since appearing at the festival.

We’re stoked to see so many great Austin acts on the lineup poster. Annabelle Charles, Being Dead, Daiistar and Nemegata are all Cosmic Clash favorites.
