Live music preview: Local acts play SIMS Saturday this weekend at Love Wheel Records

This Saturday, June 29 Jeremiah Jackson, Et Ceteras and Psychic Seatbelt (duo with Jake Lauterstein)play SIMS Saturday at Love Wheel Records 4-7 p.m. The performances are free. You can RSVP here. The quarterly event benefits SIMS Foundation, the mental health organization that supports local music industry workers and their dependent family members with mental health and recovery services.

A generous donor is matching same day record sales and donating those funds to SIMS. Love Wheel is a great little independent record shop with a great selection of vinyl records for all types of music listeners. There hasn’t been a time we’ve walked out of the store without a good find. A limited supply of Meanwhile Brewing beer and soft drinks will be on hand.  And there’s a pretty good pizza place next door if you’re hungry for a slice.

Jeremiah Jackson
Jeremiah Jackson is a Blues Rock powerhouse vocalist and guitarist with a new track out, “Stereo Rider.” Y’all can give it a spin below.

From KUTX: “Originally from Longview, Texas, Jackson relocated to Austin a year ago to take advantage of the thriving local music scene- when he’s not playing in his solo project you can see him jamming with other local Austin acts Knifight and The Scott Collins Project.” Sounds good to us. The new song above is great too. Wait for the guitar jam.

Et CeterasJoining Jackson on the Love Wheel Stage are Austin’s Et Ceteras who we covered during Free Week last year at 13th Floor and have seen the band several times since. From the Free Week story:
“New act, Et Ceteras included two members of Kay Odyssey (Virgina Valejo on drums and Kelsey Wickliffe on vocals and guitar).  Wickliffe’s husband Paul Strekfus and Dan Ramone Vivian Chavez on lead guitar round out the foursome. Fans may recognize Chavez from Pleasure Venom. Their version of experimental post punk set a perfect tone for the evening. Wickliffe, who played bass for Kay Odyssey appeared to be having a good time singing lead and playing guitar after what turned out to be an extended hiatus from live shows and even longer between stints singing lead vocals.”

Psychic SeatbeltOpener, Psychic Seatbelt are Hotel Vegas veterans, playing the Austin scene for the last decade to increasingly larger audiences. From the band’s Bandcamp bio:
“Psychic Seatbelt is the singer/songwriter/multi instrumentalist Claire Hamilton and her collaborators, formerly of the Austin Trio Queue Queue ,she plays bass in minimalist collective Thor and Friends and has lent bottom end to the Psych Rock band The Living Pins. Current collaborators include Thor Harris, Jon Sanchez and Jake Lauterstein.”
