Song Premiere: Lunar Gold release Vestiges today

Austin-based, dark ambient, indie-rockers Lunar Gold release their latest single “Vestiges” today. Led by singer-guitarist Jason Morris, Lunar Gold once again fills the creative void with their new track. “Vestiges” surges with soulful energy, featuring Morris’s powerful and haunting vocals. Backed by Tyler Cornett on guitar, Jenni Weiland and Kevin Flatt on horns, Mike Pena on keys, Paul Goetz on drums, and Garth Condit tracking the upright bass, the single adds another gem to their growing collection of recordings available online.

Lunar Gold plays a single release tonight at Mohawk with local act, Western Civilization and our dream-pop / shoe-gaze friends Semihelix. Advance tickets are still available.

“Vestiges” opens with a beautifully written soundscape. Long, soothing synth washes set the stage, accompanied by a slow, strumming guitar and a melodic arpeggiated guitar line. This gentle intro builds towards a melancholic drum beat that swells in intensity as Jason Morris unleashes his powerful, reverb-laden falsetto. Morris’s lyrics, “I have been waiting for you for such a long and lonely time,” perfectly capture the emotional core of the song. The band expertly follows his lead, injecting raw emotion into their instrumentation.

The bass beats like a heart at its breaking point, while Morris’s vocals soar, their power echoing the desperation in his repeated plea, “I have been waiting for you!” The track then suddenly ends with a feeling of despair. This captivating soundscape perfectly complements the song’s meaning: a deep longing for something lost or fading away.

With the release of their new single, produced by Mike Pena, Lunar Gold leaves us eagerly awaiting a full-length LP, which is hopefully arriving soon.

If you have not seen Lunar Gold live, you are in for an experience. Join us this evening at Mohawk with these longtime locals along with quality set by Western Civilization and Semihelix. Doors are at 9 p.m. on the indoor stage which means plenty of cold drinks and air-conditioning for everyone.
