Song Premiere: Cowboy Diplomacy single “Easier When I’m Stoned” drops today
Austin-based Blues / Alt-rockers Cowboy Diplomacy are back with a new single “Easier When I’m Stoned,” introducing the new track today at The Cosmic Clash and streaming outlets everywhere.
This time Ian Cochran is smoking his demons away with this effort. The track embraces a journey through a forest of sadness starting off with a lightly picked acoustic guitar as Cochran croons, “Have you ever felt like you were drowning in reality. Cuz’ the real world is hard.”
The melancholic song continues down a path creating a disparaging feeling of hopelessness. Although the road seems to go nowhere, the song swells up to a chorus of clarity, “It’s easier when I’m stoned.” The piano part slowly builds up, filling the feeling of emptiness.
This ballad is a beautifully composed song with all the right ingredients expertly mixed together. The guitars, piano’s and lyrics are carefully placed to bring out those relatable feelings we all have once in a while. The song slowly winds down proving an end to the longing in life in its outro. It is curious to note that the song ends at the 4:20 mark. We’re looking forward to new music from Ian Cochran and the gang at Cowboy Diplomacy soon.
“Sometimes life and the realities that come with the everyday struggle, can be overpowering and almost painful to deal with,” sings front man Ian Cochran.
“We all have our vices to cope with our hardships. This song is about the ‘unfortunately’ timeless feeling of leaning on other things besides oneself to find fullness and happiness when the realities of life become overwhelming.”
