Live music preview: Vancerts shuffled deck for Drag Edition of Sunset Saturdays at Native
After weeks of unusually rainy weather into the early summer months in Austin, mobile concerts company Vancerts has had to reschedule recent Sunset Saturdays events at Native Hostel. That includes this Saturday’s hotly anticipated drag queen edition featuring five outstanding and entertaining drag performers plus stellar live acts, Caleb De Casper and Vancerts’ favorites, The Cuckoos. This event was originally scheduled for July 3 and had to be postponed due to threatening weather. De Casper is the lone act remaining from the original bill.
On Saturday, doors open at 5 p.m. for fans. Advance ticket holders will get a Big Swig sparkling flavored water of their choice upon entry. The event will feature a vintage vendor market, live painting by Cryptic Creative on top of five fabulous queens, Brigitte Bandit, Honey Baby, Bohemia, Arinna Heys,and Rhonda Jewels.
Headlining artist, Caleb De Casper puts on a great show every performance, balancing the glam rock / horror show theatrics with honest-to-god great vocals and song delivery. He’s the real deal. Vancerts owner David Castro is excited for the booking as it’s the company’s first foray into producing a combination live music event and drag show. If the concept works, expect more events like it in the future according to Castro.
De Casper recently performed in drag at Austin’s, The Coconut Club for a Netflix party featuring nationally recognized drag queens along with several other local performers.
There are limited VIP tickets available to attendees. Please purchase in advance to guarantee entry into the adjacent area with a view of the performance, Fistful of Bourbon bar, Big Swig, swag, snacks and a hip, cool, patio to hang at for the after party. Fans can also R.S.V.P. at Facebook and purchase tickets there.
